Cert Mummy MOT practitioner and lead tutor

I am a Chartered and State Registered Physiotherapist with over 30 years of experience and over my career have studied and qualified in other related specialities:

Acupuncture – Member of the Acupuncture Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP)
My initial interest in Acupuncture developed from using dry-needling in musculo-skeletal conditions. Today I use it daily in treatments, either alone or in conjunction with Physiotherapy.

Korean Hand Therapy Certification from Seoul
This therapy utilizes massage and micro acupuncture.

Mummy MOT
I was in the first group of Mummy MOT practitioners to qualify in offering specialist integrated post-natal physiotherapy and rehabilitation to my clients. I am also a lead tutor for Mummy MOT educating other physiotherapist to offer the best care to moms recovering from pregnancy and birth – sometimes many years later.

Cione BioPelvic Neurodynamics
I trained and studied with a Harley Street biomechanics practice in order to help my patients with pelvic pain and problems arising from biomechanical issues. This includes postural correction and foot plates to correct dysfunctional patterns from the floor up.

Pelvic Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP)
I am a member of the POGP (a network affiliated to the Charted Society of Physiotherapy) and treat a range of female health conditions such as incontinence, pelvic pain and sexual dysfunction and help with issues surrounding infertility and the menopause.

British Society of Lifestyle Medicine – Board Certified
This speciality uses evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic approaches to help patients with chronic diseases prevalent in modern society e.g. type 2 diabetes and hypertension. I offer health coaching to individuals as well as companies wanting to improve their or their employee’s health habits and knowledge for better quality of life and performance.

Ongoing Training
Having originally trained in South Africa I subsequently worked in London with some of the most eminent knee, shoulder and back surgeons. I still train with surgeons and practitioners on a monthly basis to keep my skills and knowledge current.

My Philosophy
Formal training is only one part of my practice and on-going development. Of equal importance has been my clinical experience with my patients. Listening to and learning from them has helped me evolve as a practitioner over the years and as a result I have developed a specific interest in complex chronic pain and health conditions.

I have a firm belief that prevention is better than cure and having knowledge is crucial to this process. Today my focus is on helping my patients make changes to their lifestyle in order to prevent, treat and sometimes reverse their chronic health conditions.

Knowledge is power and through education and support my objective is to give my clients control back over their own health and quality of life.

After gaining my Degree in Psychology I proceeded to train as a Clinical Psychologist and during this time developed a keen interest in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I decided to do further Post graduate Training specialising in CBT and have been practicing CBT for 6 years in an NHS setting. I also did further training in psychologically supporting people with Long Term Health conditions (LTC) by providing them with skills and strategies to manage the interaction between their emotional and physical health. I am passionate about delivering evidence based therapies and it is at the core of the treatment I provide. As a therapist, I believe that a compassionate approach is the key to supporting people to live the best lives they possibly can.

What I treat
Research informs us that 1 in 4 of us will be affected by a mental health problem. I deliver NICE approved CBT for Depression and a range of Anxiety disorders, for example, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, (PTSD) Panic, Social Anxiety, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Phobias, Anger, Worry and Stress to adults over 18 years old.

I also support people with LTC, and I am able to provide specific support and strategies to people living with a long term physical health problem such as Chronic Pain, Diabetes, COPD, ME, MS, COPD, Cardiac Difficulties, IBS and many others.

Exclusion criteria
Eating Disorders as these are best supported by a Multi-Disciplinary Team.

Anyone currently presenting with High Risk and Self Harm and not able to keep themselves safe during treatment. This is best treated in a Secondary Care Setting that can provide 24 hour care to support.

Active Psychosis, again this is best treated within Secondary Care services

After 4 visits to the Physio department at the hospital, I was signed off but there was no improvement. My GP said it was something I would have to live with for the rest of my life which is when I looked for an alternative treatment.

After 3 visits to Elrina the swelling was considerably better and over time my calf muscle and knee movement has returned to normal. I cannot thank her enough and would recommend her to anyone.
